About me
People sometimes ask what brought me to Australia. Essentially, it is a drive to explore the world.
While I grew up in the USA, Sydney has been my home since 2007. I’ve always loved knowing how things work and some of my earliest memories are of helping my dad build radios in the basement. Travel began when I navigated cross-country trips back to my grandparent’s homestead.
After a high school gap year, I went full-on into academia, studying agribusiness and journalism. That took me to California, where I earned a Master’s Degree in Journalism and later, a 12-year career working for the public radio system in Alaska.
All the while, I kept building and fixing and repairing and figuring out how things work. When the lustre wore off the news business, I spent a year in Paris learning French and practicing yoga. That took me to Byron Bay for a year to get certification teaching yoga.
My love of language and yoga enabled me to spend a year in China where I met a buddhist teacher who suggested one way to discover one’s mission is to remember what consumed my time as a child. The answer was clear. I loved building stuff.
Coming to Australia gave me the chance to combine my love of building with living in a new culture. Sydney’s now my home, where I live with my Italian wife Graziella.
